Hi, my name is Anisha, and I have knoAnishawn Anne-Marie and Play Kenya forever! I met Anne-Marie when she first came to Kenya and set up her Attachment Play Programme in an orphanage where I worked. Her approach blew my brains. It was so child focused and relationship based. Understanding the way she worked, changed how I parented my own children, and how I was with the children I worked with.

It was because of learning from Play Kenya, and mostly Anne-Marie, that I went on to change my life. I now have a Certificate in Play therapy: Higher Diploma in Psychological Counselling, I am a qualified Trainer of Trainers as well as being an accredited International Train the Trainer. I am beyond proud, not just of my own achievements but also to have been part of a team that has changed the way we see trauma here in Kenya.

If you have ever experienced being in a training session with Anne-Marie, you will know that it changes you in such a good way forever. I have always had a huge passion to work with children and I know I want to do that for the rest of my life. Having the opportunity to understand the impact my own life experiences have had on me as a person and working through them with an ever-growing understanding of Brain Development, Developmental Trauma, Preverbal Memories – my list could go on – makes me a better therapist, mother, and friend.

So here I am, 14 years after first coming across Play Kenya, working in a well-established organisation that has proved its approach works time and time again. I feel I have come full circle and simply adore my job now. I get to work with children and families with complex and life changing trauma, and I get to help them to integrate their experiences into their lives and become a stronger person. I love learning about a different way of working with addictions and having regular time to learn and reflect on my week.

I think what I am trying to say is that I LOVE working for Play Kenya!
